The Idealist or Utopian Spouses, Types 1, 4, and 7
It's time talk about love and marriage with the three Idealist types, 1, 4, and 7.
When we talk about the Idealist Enneagram types, what we’re talking about is the worldview that we each bring to our relationships.
Today's group, the idealists, differ from the Rejection triad, the 2s, the 5s, and the 8s.
We also differ from the grounded comfort types, those seeking attachment, also called the Attachment Triad, 3s, 6s, and 9s.
In marriage, I literally think of this group as the “Longing” triad...
It's the group with stars in their eyes who can just see the potential for the world, their spouses, their families, and themselves.
There's a lot of good to that - hence, they are hope-bearers. They truly have a gift for seeing the possible in what seems to be impossible - for taking ash, blowing on it, and starting a fire.
However, not everyone wants a fire started all of the time, and living with an idealist can make this a bit too heated - perfection is impossible and the standards of an idealist are often too high for their own people.
What you truly want to do is to integrate the best of each group so you’re relational and open like healthy 2s, 5s, and 8s, practical and comforting like healthy 3s, 6s, and 9s, and realistically hopeful and idealistic like 1s, 4s, and 7s.
