Improving Intimacy

Have you gotten caught up in such a routine of being sexually connected that you've lost sight of the soul-to-soul making love kind of connection?

Perhaps you're so tired, sex is the last thing on your mind. Or you love it...

But you're just not in that body space these days! Or your spouse isn't, so as you learned last week, you began to shut down too or find other methods of stimulation.

You KNOW you're not alone if you've ever struggled with this or any number of sexual issues, since it's one of the top issues in marriage conflict! I feel this way too as a thinking type but I've learned to be brave and it's been a true gift to not only Wes but to me also.

Improving intimacy in marriage can be challenging, and you may want to completely avoid or neglect it.

However, I beg of you...

Don't skip this area and think marriage will be great.

Fusing your bodies together intimately is just that, intimate. It leads to touching and connection in a way words just can't and in a way no one else can connect with you. It's the one area of marriage that is your sacred, private space. Don't let that go for anything!

Is it messy? Is it difficult? Is it embarrassing sometimes? Yes, you are, as I said, not alone if you've ever felt a bit (or a lot!) vulnerable. And you do need to tweak to find energy, joys, and sorrows and to process pain together...

If you don’t want to walk this road alone, consider getting a coach or therapist to help guide you!

But you and your spouse are indeed worth the hard work, most especially if sex is high on your love language list or your spouse's. Check out Truity’s Love Styles test here!

Decide which tiny pivots you will make together and then try them out, little by little, with curiosity and not condemnation.

Change takes time and lots of deep breaths!
