Masculine and Feminine Energy in Marriage

As we jump into the sizzling mid-summer, we're focusing on a new topic this month - one that I hope will get the fireworks going in your relationship indeed! :)


As we talk on the Enneagram & Marriage podcast, we're delving deep with you into what really makes those fireworks to begin with - the sparks that make that glow of your love truly shine brightly!


In a nutshell, as we open up a month on intimacy, especially sexual intimacy together, we're basically starting off talking about the sexual polarity, the difference, the tension that exists between people, especially people attracted to each other.


(This conversation will set up next week's episode on why women especially statistically lose their sex drive with their partner after a time.)


It all has to do with how most humans relate to this magnetic polarity theory about marriage, at least in the sexual bond in this way - the understanding that a person who is more soft, helpless, and feminine is in need of rescue ends up by someone who is logical, less emotional, and in some way ready to play a hero, regardless of personality type. 

When these poles become too pronounced however, a truly intimate marriage is not possible - real love needs not dominion over weakness but the soft glow of warmth and light that emits from those who truly care for each other.

 

As you talk about your sex and intimacy life this month, start by asking yourselves what makes you feel safe, right, and loved rather than just this polarity - or even instead of this. You may need differences to create the spark but it's truly love that will keep you glowing for the long haul,
