Plunge the depths of childhood with Michael Shahan, LMFT, 9!

When you're drained on a Wednesday...

(I seriously thought today was Friday, lol!)...

Sometimes you can feel like just heading into robot mode.

Full. throttle. stoicism.

And that's not always a bad thing.

(You really do need to water those begonias, turn the Instant Pot on, and don't forget to take the dog out before heading out the door, lol)

But there's also mid-week liftoff energy that comes from soaking up some fresh learning and taking new moves you're not used to taking sometimes.

This episode is all about these new moves in life and marriage as we help you in finding the strengths you left behind as a child.

During our intimacy month, it's so helpful to not just box yourself into the one type you're mainly working from, but to also add threads of yourself that may be both missing!

Take a healthy
plunge into your own depths with us the pod with licensed marriage and family therapist Michael Shahan, Enneagram 9 as we learn together.

You may remember Michael adding a trauma piece to our
Glow Pairing Guides or perhaps you've seen his massive Instagram following as he combines psychological and marriage assessment with the Enneagram for great results in his Kansas City therapy practice.

I've enjoyed the polyvagal trainings that he and Enneagram 5, Caylen Sunderman, LMFT have put together about flight or fight responses as well.

On the pod, he walks us around the personality spectrum and reminds us, type by type, of the pieces we have probably at some point or other left off in childhood.

As we also lay our cards on the table in the interview, I loved getting to reflect on my "type 5" researcher pieces that weren't as valued in my school's pecking order and Michael shares how his family growing up sort of unintentionally forwarded his type 9" message, "you are not important enough to be heard."

It's also necessary to reintegrate with our spouses and family or they wonder why all of a sudden our peacemaker is making waves or our enthusiast is stuck in Jane Austen's 800-page biography instead of wanting to go zip-lining (a very real conversation in our family).

As you learn these healthy ways to re-embrace these pieces of who you really are at your best (more robust, less just one type), these new moves help you, your family, and marriage and community so much, too!
