Spending time energizing & emoting!

Last week we talked to not one but two awesome women, both mommas, who were taking care of business and trying to be the best at jobs, wifing (is that a word?), and mom life also.

Wes, too my hubby, who was on the pod yesterday, has certain rituals that help him as a dad and husband to accomplish a lot on the busy, flowing weekdays that can easily slip away, and we’re all still learning, too!

These tips will help us ALL find more peace and productivity (and don’t we want both) when we truly embrace them, so I wanted to share them as we build intentional metaphorical cozy fires together and also fire up to have a productive week!

First, prepare yourself for success, like Tony Robbins reminds, with these tips that only take less than 5 minutes to implement!

Priming is a mind-body strategy for setting the tone for your day and may involve setting sticky notes in different places each AM to remind you (Pro tip: your brain will get used to it if you set the reminder in the same place always!). So what is priming otherwise? Priming involves you using physical movement and mindfulness practices to center your thoughts on your body, which, in turn, calms your emotions. Morning (even before you get out of bed, it can start) priming also entails empowering self-talk to prepare you for your day. By practicing strategies that clear and focus the mind, priming is an effective way to increase energy levels in almost any circumstance.

Learn how to allow but also manage your feelings

Letting your reactivity or emotions (yes, even on hormonal weeks) control every action can be energy-draining as well as detrimental in creating healthy relationships and energy-building.

Take control of your emotions today by paying attention to them and to what limiting beliefs they may indicate - work on your inner scripts by noticing them and writing down the thoughts that aren’t healthy. Verbal processing with a friend or coach can also be helpful here!

Show further control by tossing the written thoughts out after you’ve released them or by making a chart so you can find patterns. By identifying triggers and letting go of the past, you can become the master of your own emotions and fill yourself with positive energy.

Embrace the concept that life is happening for you

Those who look for ways to increase energy are sometimes beaten down by life. They often ask the question, “Why is this happening to me?” and feel they will never catch a break. A key to increasing energy levels is to look at life as if it’s happening for you instead of to you. If you’re a person of faith, you may remind, “God is for me.”

No matter what happens today, try to find the good in it and cultivate a gratitude mindset.

When failures arise, instead of viewing events as failures or setbacks, look at them as necessary steps to creating the person you’re meant to be. Energy flows back in when we do this well!

Transform your words

You may be sabotaging your attempts to increase energy levels simply by using the wrong words both in your self-talk and conversations with other people. If you’re constantly telling yourself or others that “I’m so tired” or “I’m having the worst day,” you’ll believe it and your body will respond accordingly (our bodies truly listen to what we say!)

Transform your words and learn how to increase energy by identifying negative words you frequently use and finding positive words to replace them.

Get an accountability buddy who can help spot draining conversation patterns and who you trust to call attention to these patterns when they start to show up.

When you’re consistently using upbeat words, you’ll increase energy levels and attract others who do the same, but also, to add to Tony’s best wisdom (as a likely type 7 or 8), don’t forget that the emotions indeed are worthy of allowing, so you can allow tears to flow sometimes and to make pivotal life changes as needed.
