Healthier Eating and Food Rhythms
As we are diving into fitness with our heads, hearts, and bodies, we cannot forget to take inventory together about our food beliefs and rhythms.
I’ll remind you that according to most body mass and cholesterol indexes, what you put inside your body is even more important than your fitness routine. And the truth is, you may likely know this.
However, you also must keep in mind your bio-individuality as you test out what works for you - you must get bloodwork results and find out your BMI and/or otherwise reasonably measure out your successes, including what works across morning to night or week to week, season to season - and it WILL shift.
I already notice how my kids can eat more than me. As a 7, I don't like that but I see it and have to honor it by eating more slowly and mindfully.
You need both fitness and food for health of course but it’s about an 80/20 percent tile of healthy eating to workout if you’re trying to reduce or prevent obesity, meaning diet is about eighty percent of the process.
However, instead of dieting, let’s look together at healthy food rhythms you can add in and take note of.
As you answer questions about food, ask yourself this:
Am I eating emotionally? If so, what can I do to both give myself grace as well as find a healthier rhythm? It will likely involve some active or spiritual or anxiety-reducing practice.
Maybe you take a walk around the block with your favorite music or drink tea with a LUSH bath bomb next time instead of grabbing the Cheetos.
Perhaps you cut up grilled proteins every Sunday night as a new ritual so you’re more well fed earlier in the day.
Perhaps when you’re tempted to take your sadness into the kitchen with you, you instead take it to your gratitude journal and spend a little time in emotions but then time with gratitude so you’re not as desperate for a “fix.”
In this process you don’t leave treats or celebrations out of the equations, you just pay attention to rhythms and you don't eat emotionally, you eat with balance when you're hungry.
We are also always learning so don't feel bad if you're not perfect, just modify again and allow grace for the journey.

So, it's game time. What is reasonable for you do this week to prep? When will you do it?
I am going to meal prep today as well as do fitness and I’m excited to do so. We need it as we officially take on our biggest new week of Fall indeed with back to all the classes and activities.
I am also going to have a day with margin and organization since I had a busy weekend so far.
Keep your day in mind as you plan for the very best you can with me!
