Overcoming Negative Family Patterns This Holiday!

I loved sitting down with my family this weekend to watch Spirited the new Christmas movie. It was witty, funny, and redemptive, with a Dickensonian twist and the ultimate Christ-like example of laying one's life down for the good of others.

However, though Christmas and holiday movies are all about love at large...

If that love doesn't break down into actionable steps in real life, we're just here for the happy vibes, instead of truly digging in with focused, gritty steps toward the hard work of practicing deep, connecting, and often sacrificial love.

This mini-episode is all about learning new healthy steps when we're stressed, even if the old ones we picked up unwittingly in those first few years of life from family of origin are a bit cozy and like second nature - er, first nature.

The truth is, we all have both positive and negative features for survival that we picked up from family.

You're absolutely not alone if heading into the holidays dysregulates you or your family a bit.

That's why
on the podcast, we're nuancing some of the typical family of origin patterns seen in each Enneagram type briefly so we can identify what patterns you're likely exhibiting most.

We're not shaming or blaming you or your parents for the patterns - there are way too many layers across generations for polarizations. But we are intentionally seeking to grow and change together.

So take your time this holiday with some margin so you can take intentional steps with us, take deep breaths, and find your dysregulating patterns before they find you in a heap of Scrooge-like trouble this year! Cheesy but true! :)
